Frequently Asked Questions
These are the most frequently asked questions that you have asked us over the years.
Which is the meeting point of the Free Tours?
All our Free Tours start behind the statue of the drummer located between Sarriegi Square and San Juan Street, behind the Boulevard and next to the Bretxa market.
Look for our blue and white striped umbrella at Plaza Sarriegi nº9.
Is there a limited place number per tour?
Yes, in search of sustainable tourism our groups have a limited number of 20 places so we don’t cause a negative impact in our surroundings.
Is it compulsory to book in advance?
No, but it’s recommended if you want to make sure that you have an available place for one of our tours.
Can tours be booked in advance?
Yes, in fact we recommend it to secure your place.
Why bookings of maximum 6 people on the Free Walking Tours?
In Free Walking Tour San Sebastian we understand that San Sebastian is not a big city and large groups distort our surroundings and interrupt the wellbeing of the local people.
But this is not the only reason, from our experience we know that the bookings of groups bigger than 6 people monopolise the attention in relation to the rest of the group and the quality of the service for the rest of people that joined the tour drops. We also understand that this kind of service is intended for small groups that couldn’t access a private service otherwise.
Are you part of a bigger group and don’t want to miss the chance to join one of our tours? Contact us and we will always give you a suitable solution for you and your group!
I have not received a notification
Don’t worry, this doesn’t mean that you don’t have a place or that the visit won’t take place. You will receive confirmation of your reservation to the email address you provided 7 to 10 days before the visit.
At what time do we have to be at the meeting point?
We always tell you to be at the meeting point 5 minutes before the beginning of the tour. This way we make sure that we all are ready at the scheduled time and we can receive you better.
Are tours cancelled due to rain or weather?
No, the tours take place rain, snow or shine. The guide will make sure you enjoy the tour and make it as comfortable as possible no matter what the weather is like. Check the weather here.
What clothes/shoes should I wear?
Clothing should be in accordance with the weather and the type of tour booked. San Sebastian is a city where it rains, especially in winter, so in case of rain it is recommended to bring a waterproof coat and an umbrella. Appropriate walking shoes or comfortable shoes should be worn.
I am in a wheelchair or have reduced mobility, can I participate in your tours?
Of course! Our tours are fully adapted.
Do we use public transport?
No, all the walking is on foot.
What languages are the tours available in?
We offer Free Tours only in Spanish and English. On the other hand, we can offer private tours in Spanish, Basque, English and French in different groups.
Can I pay with credit/debit card?
The private tours certainly yes, but not the Free Tours, as our guides don’t carry a payment terminal with them during the tour, so the donations have to be always in cash. Of course, this doesn’t mean that we don’t declare what we get, sustainable tourism also means that we pay the corresponding taxes. That’s why all the money that we get on our Free Tours is counted and registered.
